Belmont Forum “TSUNAGARI” Project 2nd Workshop will be organizing on

trans-system and unified approach for global and regional integration of social-ecological study toward sustainable use of biodiversity and ecosystem services.

Date: April 18-24th, 2016

Venue: Yantai Institute of Coastal Zone Research CAS, and Yellow River Delta, China

 

Topics or Themes of the workshop are as follows:

1. Vertical integration of fine-resolution spatial information.

2. Cross-scale evaluation of ecosystem service.

3. Ecosystem connectivity including stakeholders’s involvement.

4. Schemes and models of scenario analysis.

5. Field excursion to Yellow River Delta

The TSUNAGARI (meaning connectivity and relationship in Japanese) project aims to build an international network of researchers to link knowledge to action for the sustainable use of biodiversity and ecosystem services in Asia. The research group consists of well-balanced teams of scientists from different regions and disciplines. These range from ecologists studying forest, riverine and coastal biodiversity and ecosystems, environmental scientists conducting broad-scale analyses of biodiversity and land/sea use changes, environmental socio-economists studying global impact of human activities on earth environment, and environmental anthropologists studying human relationships and behavior in relation to sustainable social systems.
